Capstans for Norfolk Naval Shipyard Caisson # 3

Schoellhorn-Albrecht has manufactured thru deck Capstans for Steel America, a division of Colonna’s Shipyard.  The Caisson, built by Steel America was designed and built for Norfolk Naval Shipyard and measures 116’ long x 16’ wide by 45’ high. .

The Capstans are mounted on top of the caisson and feature a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) specifically designed for use on dry dock and mooring applications. 

In addition to the Capstans Schoellhorn-Albrecht also manufactured the deck fittings consisting of shell bitts, open chocks and cleats.
