Constant Tension Winches for St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation

Schoellhorn-Albrecht manufactures Constant Tension Deck Winches for St. Lawrence Seaway's "Gate Lifter" barge GRASSE RIVER. St. Lawrence Seaway turned to Schoellhorn-Albrecht to replace aging deck winches built for the vessel in 1958. The new mooring winches are being used to shift the barge, secure it to the lock wall and to other vessels.

The winches feature 40 HP constant tension Variable Frequency Drive Operation and will develop mid line drum pull of approximately 13,000lbs at 90 fpm. The winches feature a level wind and will hold 300' of 1" diameter steel cable.
